This four-bedroom family house is located at the south of Patras, amidst a vast vineyard on a relatively flat site. The site enjoys views of the natural environment surrounding Mount Erymanthos on its south side. Therefore, the design revolves around a double height living room which is in direct contact with a south-facing outdoor loggia overlooking the vineyards and the mountain, becoming the functional core of the dwelling.
Due to the place’s significant resemblance to the north Italian countryside, the architectural expression of the building takes cues from the country houses of Tuscany, by adopting a warm material palette, with minimal expression of the openings and a double-pitched roof with worn roman tiles. The roof in addition to the square shaped loggia which is placed on the South – West side of the house, greatly enhance the energy performance of the dwelling as they shelter the external skin from direct sunlight, while the careful placement of glazing minimizes solar gains.
This project is currently under construction.
