This small summer residence is located at the northern coast of the Corinthian gulf on a narrow rectilinear site. Τhe design of the house aims to depart from the typical two-bedroom square layout of traditional cottage houses, in order to integrate itself on the dynamic shape of the plot. Therefore, the main architectural gesture is the introduction of a 19-metre long wall running on the East-West axis, which defines the proportions of the dwelling, and a single slope roof which defines the boundaries of indoor and outdoor living spaces. The heavily insulated wall is strategically placed on the northern side of the house, to protect it from the cold winter streams coming from the nearby mountains, while the roof extends over the southern façade, providing complete shading during summer. These design choices, along with the careful placement of glazing, pool and other shading devices, passively reduce the house’s energy demands to the minimum.
